Doha, Apr 29: Qatar on Tuesday warned against the risk of a “frozen conflict” in the Gulf amid signs of an impasse in peace talks between the United States and Iran.
Speaking at a press conference, Qatar foreign ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari said Doha was keen to avoid a return to hostilities in the region and stressed the need for a lasting and sustainable resolution.

“We do not want to see a return to hostilities in the region anytime soon. We do not want to see a frozen conflict that ends up being thawed every time there is a political reason,” Ansari said.
He said Qatar was committed to seeing an end to the conflict in a manner that addresses regional concerns and promotes long-term stability.
“We are very keen to see an end to this war that is sustainable, that takes into account all of our concerns in the region and beyond,” he added.
The remarks come as uncertainty surrounds ongoing diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran, raising concerns over renewed tensions in the Gulf.
