Bengaluru, Apr 27: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has announced a significant benefit for students appearing for the upcoming 2nd PUC (Pre-University Course) Examination-2. Students will be allowed to travel for free on KSRTC buses from their residence to the examination centres and back during the exam period.

According to official sources, this student-friendly measure aims to ease the burden of travel for candidates during the stressful examination days.

No separate pass required, hall ticket enough

To avail of this free travel facility, students do not need to apply for any special passes. They only need to produce their valid examination admission ticket (hall ticket) to the bus conductor upon boarding. The facility is applicable on city, suburban, ordinary, and express buses operated by the corporation. This move is expected to greatly benefit students from rural areas who often need to travel long distances to reach their designated test centres.

Validity period

As per the notification, this free travel facility will be available on all examination days between April 30, 2026, and May 13, 2026. Students can only utilize this service on the days they have scheduled exams.

Instructions to staff

Bus drivers and conductors have been strictly instructed to facilitate smooth travel for the students. They have been directed to stop buses, upon request, near the examination centres, even if there is no designated bus stop. This will help students save time and avoid getting stuck in traffic while commuting from major bus stations to their centres.

KSRTC has also instructed its staff to treat students with courtesy and ensure they do not face any inconvenience upon presenting their hall tickets. In case of any issues, students have been advised to contact the nearest depot manager or the KSRTC control room.

This decision by the transport corporation has been widely welcomed by parents and educationists, as it helps alleviate the financial burden on families, especially when examination centres are located far from students' homes.
