Puttur, Apr 26: A 53-year-old co-driver sustained serious injuries after a car rammed into him while he was inspecting the tyres of his parked vehicle near Korameru in Ichlampady village on Friday, April 24.
The incident occurred on the Mangaluru-Bengaluru National Highway 75 at around 10:30 pm. The injured, identified as Sheikh Budan, a resident of Seebinakere in Thirthahalli, was travelling toward Mangaluru from Hassan in a vehicle loaded with steel rods.

According to reports, the vehicle's driver, R A Mohammad, had parked on the roadside to check the tyres. Both Mohammad and Budan had alighted and were standing at the rear of the vehicle when a car heading from Bengaluru to Mangaluru lost control and crashed into them.
The car was being driven by Ranjan, an entrepreneur from Mangaluru. Sheikh Budan, who suffered grave injuries in the collision, was rushed to a private hospital in Mangaluru for intensive care.
Based on a complaint filed by Mohammad, the Uppinangady police have registered a case against the car driver.
