New Delhi, Apr 25: The International Shooting Sport Federation and the International Paralympic Committee have signed an agreement to transfer the governance of Para shooting sport from the IPC to the ISSF.
Currently, the sport is administered by World Shooting Para Sport under the IPC. The move marks the first formal step towards bringing Olympic and Paralympic shooting under a single global governing body, aimed at aligning governance and development pathways.

The transfer will come into effect only after approval by ISSF member federations at its General Assembly scheduled later this year. If ratified, the ISSF is expected to assume full responsibility from early next year.
Officials said a phased integration process will be carried out between 2027 and 2028 to ensure a smooth transition. Efforts will be made to maintain stability, with minimal disruption to existing competition structures and qualification systems.
The arrangement will also ensure continuity in preparations for major events, including the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games.
