Puttur, Apr 14: Puttur Rural Police have registered a case after intercepting a lorry allegedly transporting laterite stones illegally from Kerala at the Sulyapadavu checkpost.

The incident occurred on April 12, when police were conducting routine vehicle inspections at the checkpost. A lorry arriving from the Kerala side was stopped and inspected, during which officials found it carrying laterite stones.

During questioning, the driver, identified as Vishwanath from Madyur village, reportedly admitted that the stones were being transported from Kerala towards Gundya.

Police said the vehicle belongs to one Prajan Shetty. As the transport was carried out without valid permits, a case has been registered against those involved.
