Udupi, Apr 5: The Udupi district police have arrested a notorious rowdy-sheeter, Ganesh Poojary (48), a resident of Kaudur village, under the stringent Goonda Act.
Based on a detailed report submitted by Udupi Superintendent of Police (SP) Hariram Shankar, the District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner Swaroopa T K issued the arrest warrant on April 4. Following the order, the accused has been shifted to the Kalaburagi Central Prison for detention.

Ganesh Poojary, who was a listed rowdy-sheeter at the Karkala Town Police Station, has a long criminal history. A total of 11 cases have been registered against him, including four counts of attempted murder, one robbery, three cases of assault, and charges related to unlawful assembly and gambling.
Among these cases, he has been convicted in one, acquitted in seven, while one case is currently under judicial trial. Two other cases are still under investigation. The authorities invoked the Goonda Act to curb his repeated involvement in criminal activities and to maintain public order in the region.
