Mangaluru/Udupi, Apr 4: Large numbers of the faithful gathered across Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on Saturday evening, April 4, to participate in Easter Vigil Masses held in churches, marking the celebration with solemnity and devotion.

Easter, which commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ, is the most significant event in the Christian calendar.

The Holy Week began with Palm Sunday on March 29 and culminates in the celebration of Easter on April 5, following Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, which recall Christ’s Last Supper, passion, and crucifixion.
