Mumbai, Mar 21: A 29-year-old woman, Kavita Mahesh Wad, tragically lost her life in Mumbai’s Wadala neighborhood after a violent confrontation with her husband regarding his chronic alcohol consumption.

On Saturday, Mumbai Police confirmed the arrest of Mahesh Narayan Wad, who fled the scene after allegedly delivering a fatal series of kicks and punches to his wife.

While Kavita was eventually transported to KEM Hospital, she succumbed to her injuries during treatment, with medical professionals noting that a significant delay in seeking professional care likely sealed her fate.

The investigation, sparked by a formal complaint from the victim’s brother, Shubham Ramesh Lodi, revealed a history of domestic friction centered on Mahesh’s addiction.

On the night of the incident, an intoxicated Mahesh reportedly escalated a verbal argument into a physical assault, which included striking Kavita in the face with a mobile phone.

Despite his wife losing consciousness, Mahesh failed to seek immediate help, leaving her in a critical state until it was too late.

ollowing a post-mortem report that documented extensive bruising and internal trauma, police launched a manhunt, utilizing two specialized teams to track Mahesh to a relative’s home where he was hiding.

He now faces murder charges under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) as the legal process moves forward.
