Beltangady: Illegal cow slaughter case registered; accused’s premises seized

Beltangady, Feb 27:
Acting on a tip-off regarding illegal cow slaughter, the Uppinangady police conducted a raid in the Baraya village of Beltangady and seized a significant quantity of beef along with other equipment.

On the night of February 26, Uppinangady police sub-inspector Suthesh K P and his team reached Hosavaklu in Baraya village after receiving information that cattle were being slaughtered illegally in the premises of a house belonging to H Abdul Rahiman. Upon the arrival of the police, two individuals managed to flee from the spot.

During the inspection of the premises, the police found beef being packed into sachets. A search of an autorickshaw parked nearby also led to the discovery of more beef packets. A total of 56 kg of meat was recovered from the site.

The police have seized the beef, a weighing machine, the autorickshaw, a mobile phone, and other related items for further legal action. A case has been registered at the Uppinangady police station under Crime No. 27/2026, sections 4 and 12 of the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act, 2020, and Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023.

In a strict move following the necessary legal procedures, the police have seized the house premises belonging to the accused, H Abdul Rahiman, which was allegedly being used for the slaughter of cattle. An investigation is currently underway to apprehend the suspects who fled the scene.
