Honesty shines in Kollur as gold worth Rs 5 lac, iPhone returned to owners in 2 incidents

Kundapur, Feb 20: Two separate instances of exemplary honesty were reported on the same day within the Kollur police station limits on February 19, where gold ornaments worth lacs, cash, and an expensive mobile phone were returned to their rightful owners through the police.

In the first incident, a tourist, who wished to remain anonymous, discovered a bag containing gold ornaments valued at Rs 5 lac and approximately Rs 15,000 in cash. Demonstrating great integrity, the tourist handed over the bag to the Kollur police station.

In another case, Sharath, a resident of Mudur and a Kodachadri jeep driver, found a bag belonging to the wife of Abhishek, a staff member of the Kollam police station in Kerala. The bag contained an iPhone and Rs 3,000 in cash. Sharath immediately returned the belongings to the police station.

The Udupi district police department and the general public have lauded both the anonymous tourist and the jeep driver for their honesty. The lost items were subsequently handed over to the respective owners by the Kollur police.
