Panaji, Feb 18: Seven young women were rescued during a raid conducted by Mandrem police at a massage parlour in Arambol following mounting public pressure to crack down on alleged prostitution activities at Arambol beach.
After the operation, one head constable and one constable attached to the Mandrem police station were transferred to the Reserve Force. The transfer order was reportedly issued by the North Goa Superintendent of Police.

Locals had repeatedly complained about alleged prostitution activities at Arambol beach and accused the police of failing to act despite several representations submitted to the police department and the Arambol panchayat demanding strict action.
Bowing to the growing public outcry, Mandrem police carried out the raid at a massage parlour in Arambol, rescuing seven young women and taking three suspects into custody.
According to police, the accused have been identified as Sanju Kumar from Uttar Pradesh, Shibani Das from West Bengal and Paresh Bhati from Gujarat. They allegedly induced the seven victims into prostitution and collected money from customers on their behalf.
In a related development, Rajesh Shirgaonkar and Sarvesh Mandrekar of the Mandrem police were transferred to the Reserve Force. The action is understood to have been taken following public anger over the alleged inaction despite repeated complaints.
Meanwhile, locals have claimed that the alleged mastermind behind the racket is still at large and is reportedly operating other businesses at Mandrem beach.
