Mangaluru, Feb 16: A seminar on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll was organised by the Dakshina Kannada District Congress Campaign Committee at the District Congress Office, Mallikatte, on Monday, February 16.

The programme was presided over by Vinay Kumar Sorake, president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Campaign Committee. It was inaugurated by J R Lobo, former member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Vasu H V, convenor of Jagruta Karnataka, presented his views on the theme, ‘How SIR is shaking the very roots of Indian democracy’. He expressed concern that the Special Intensive Revision process could weaken democratic foundations if not implemented with transparency and fairness. He described the present situation as one of the most serious challenges faced by Indian democracy in its 75-year history.

In another session, Sudheer Kumar Muroli, legal expert, thinker and chief coordinator of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Campaign Committee, spoke on the responsibilities of political and social activists in the current political climate. He questioned whether opposition forces should merely react to the agenda set by those in power or proactively create an agenda representing the interests of the people.

He further stated that genuine patriots must respond thoughtfully to aggressive political narratives and urged citizens to understand the strategies being carried out behind the scenes in the political sphere.

Party leaders, office-bearers, social activists and members of the public participated in the seminar and held discussions on protecting democratic values and ensuring the integrity of the electoral process.

SIR now in India is same as what Trump in the US wants to nationalise the election process and give special voters IDs to electorals whom Trump thinks are legitimate voters and not what the law says are legitimate voters. Is this not day light voting manipulation and making environment conducive to win elections by giving voting rights only to its own supporters and banning voting rights who are against Trump.
