Mangaluru, Feb 15: Even as a recent matrimonial fraud case is yet to fade from public memory, another alleged case of deception involving a city-based man has surfaced. A woman has accused her husband of cheating multiple young women from Mangaluru while staying abroad and luring them through social media platforms.
Preeti (name changed), a resident of Bajpe, has filed a complaint against her husband Manish at the Mangaluru Women Police Station, alleging harassment, cheating and emotional exploitation.

Marriage after alleged blackmail
According to the complaint, Preeti came into contact with Manish through Facebook. What began as an online friendship reportedly turned into a relationship. She has alleged that Manish later blackmailed her and compelled her to marry him.
Preeti further stated that just three days before the wedding, Manish allegedly staged a suicide drama claiming he was in financial distress. Believing his claims, her parents bore all wedding expenses. She also claimed that Rs 2 lakh was arranged to help him secure employment abroad.
However, after moving to Dubai, Manish allegedly began a relationship with another woman based in Bahrain.
Multiple affairs, financial cheating alleged
Suspicious of his behaviour, Preeti said she began inquiring into his past, only to discover that even before their marriage he had allegedly been involved with several young women.
According to the complaint, some of these women informed her that Manish had taken money from them as well under various pretexts. When they demanded repayment, he allegedly claimed he was suffering from a brain tumour or a heart ailment and ended the relationship without returning the money.
Preeti has also alleged that Manish used platforms such as TikTok and other social media channels to approach and befriend women.
Stating that she no longer wishes to continue the marriage, she has appealed to authorities to take action, asserting that no other woman should fall victim to similar deception.
Police at Mangaluru Women Police Station have registered the complaint and are investigating the matter.
