Bantwal: Fire breaks out on hill at Kenthale; trees, plants reduced to ashes

Bantwal, Feb 13: An accidental fire broke out on a hill at Kenthale in Kukkipadi village on Thursday.

The fire occurred on a hill located on the land belonging to Nithyananda Poojary, resulting in thick smoke billowing from the area.

On receiving information, Nithyananda alerted the fire stations at Bantwal, Moodbidri and Beltangady. However, as the fire personnel did not arrive, local residents stepped in and doused the flames by pouring water.

Approximately one and a half acres of land were affected, with trees and plants completely burnt to ashes. Several arecanut plants were also destroyed in the fire, Nithyananda Poojary stated.
