Beltangady, Feb 10: In connection with the alleged abduction and stabbing incident involving a schoolgirl under the Beltangady police station limits, police have clarified that no such vehicle as mentioned in the complaint was found after examining CCTV footage.

Police sources informed that a medical examination initially indicated that the injury was a self-inflicted wound. Subsequently, the statement of the girl was recorded once again, during which she admitted that she had given a false statement regarding the incident.

As the girl is a minor, the matter is being handled sensitively in her best interest. It has been decided that she will be provided counselling through the child development project officer (CDPO), after which further legal action will be determined.

Police have also stated that legal action will be initiated against those responsible for providing a vehicle to the minor.
