Mangaluru: St Agnes, St John’s Colleges conclude five-day academic exchange

Mangaluru, Feb 9: St Agnes College (Autonomous) successfully completed a five-day Academic Exchange Programme with St John’s College of Humanities and Sciences (Autonomous), Palghar, Mumbai, from January 12 to 17. The programme was organized under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions to promote student-centric learning, faculty development, research orientation, cultural immersion, and industry exposure.

The delegation from St Agnes College comprised two faculty members - Shubharekha, registrar, Dr Vishala B K, chief librarian and six students - Ananya Madhu, (III BSc) Serena Francine Saldanha III BCom (ACCA), Nabhan Muzaffar, (II BCom (ACCA), Privy D’Souza (I MA English), Athmika ( II MBA), Vashistha P Rai (I MBA) who actively participated in all sessions, workshops, and cultural exchanges.

The inaugural ceremony was held on January 13 at St John’s College, where dignitaries, including principal Dr Muktha Manoj Jacob, dean of Research Dr Coutinho, and IQAC Coordinator Dr Priya Dilip Chaurasiya welcomed the visiting team from St Agnes College.

The sessions across the five days included a skill enhancement workshop on food & beverages by Devashish Vakil, an experiential learning session on AI Tools by Trupti Bidaye, and a case study on entrepreneurship led by Dr Akansha Thakur and Athmika. Students also engaged in soft skills training, a Warli art workshop, mentoring sessions by Mukti Manai, and inter-collegiate student activities coordinated by Dr Vijay Songire and Lithiya Subramaniam.

Faculty members from St Agnes College contributed significantly, with Shubharekha (Controller of examinations) demonstrating SAC’s examination process and research tools, while Dr Vishala B K (Chief librarian) guided faculty on library development, ICT platforms, and digital pedagogy. The programme also included cultural experiences such as visits to Kelva Beach and Bandra, and an industrial visit to Lupin and Camlin Ltd, providing students with practical exposure to industry-academia linkage.

The exchange programme concluded with a valedictory ceremony and reflections from participants. Students reported enhanced skills in hospitality, digital literacy, entrepreneurship, soft skills, cultural awareness, and industry readiness. Faculty members gained insights into research methodology, assessment tools, and digital learning practices. The collaboration has strengthened academic ties between St Agnes College and St John’s College, paving the way for future partnerships in academics, research, and outreach.
