Kaup native among three killed in Oman road mishap

Muscat, Feb 9: Three people, including Chethan (26) from Uchila Kalathur in Kaup, lost their lives, while three others were injured in a multi-vehicle road accident in the Wilayat of Liwa in Oman’s North Al Batinah Governorate on Sunday.

According to the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority, the accident involved three vehicles and occurred earlier in the day, triggering an immediate response from rescue and medical teams. Three victims were declared dead at the spot, while the injured sustained moderate to critical injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals for emergency treatment.

Officials said emergency personnel secured the accident site and carried out rescue operations, including assisting those trapped in the wreckage. Medical teams also provided first aid at the scene before shifting the injured to healthcare facilities.

    The vehicle which Chethan with 3 others were travelling at a speed of 65kmph as per IVMS tracking system at the time of head on collision. The other car was travelling at 120 KMPh speed came and hit this car. Most unfortunate. Om Sadgathi

    Very unfortunate incident happened very close to our current Project Site at Sohar, Oman inside the Port area... It's very sad to pass through this accident spot every day when we go and come back from our Project Site Office.... Normally, speed limit is 70km per hour inside the entire Port area. Since it is the single carriageway road.... fatal accident happened due to head on collision because of overspeed and tried to overtake... though we came to know the incident immediately but it's very unfortunate to hear the news that one of the deceased was from our own region May God give strength to his family members to bear the huge loss and let us pray to God together to rest his soul heavenly abode
