Udupi: Police crack down on defective two-wheeler silencers, 120 seized & destroyed

Udupi, Feb 7: The Manipal Police have taken strict action against two-wheelers fitted with defective silencers that create excessive noise within the Udupi–Manipal Police Station limits.

Over the past six months, under the leadership of Manipal Police Inspector Mahesh Prasad, special inspection drives were conducted at various locations across the station’s jurisdiction.

During these drives, police identified and seized a total of 120 defective silencers and registered 120 cases against the offenders.

In connection with these cases, fines totalling Rs 1,05,000 were collected from the violators.

All 120 seized silencers were destroyed using a bulldozer in front of the Manipal Police Station, in the presence of District Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar, IPS. Inspector Mahesh Prasad and other police officials were present on the occasion.

The operation forms part of the Udupi police’s ongoing efforts to curb noise pollution and enforce traffic safety regulations in the region.
