Kuwait, Feb 5: The Civil Service Commission of Kuwait has announced revised working hours for government employees during the holy month of Ramadan, implementing shorter daily schedules and flexible start times to accommodate fasting employees while maintaining public service continuity.

Under the new framework, confirmed in External Decision No. (1) of 2024, all government employees will work 4½ hours per day throughout Ramadan. Employees may begin their workday at any time between 8:30 am and 10:30 am, establishing an official flexitime arrangement for the duration of the month.

The Commission said the flexible schedule is designed to balance operational efficiency with the well-being of employees observing the spiritual and physical demands of fasting. The decision provides detailed guidelines on timings, rules, and operational requirements, which must be implemented consistently across all government departments.

Authorities emphasized that adherence to the revised framework is crucial to ensure smooth workflow while respecting the religious significance of Ramadan. The Civil Service Commission also confirmed that this flexible schedule will be applied annually during Ramadan, reflecting its commitment to a responsive and adaptable working environment for government staff across Kuwait.
