London, Feb 1: Arsenal and Liverpool rekindled their winning form in the Premier League on Saturday, giving their title and survival hopes a boost.

Arsenal strengthened their lead at the top to seven points after a dominant 4-0 victory over Leeds at Elland Road, ending a three-game winless streak. Goals from Martin Zubimendi, Viktor Gyokeres, Gabriel Jesus, and an own goal from Leeds goalkeeper Karl Darlow helped Mikel Arteta’s side stay on course for the title. Arteta said, “We really wanted to show how much we wanted it.” Manchester City and Aston Villa can reduce the gap to four points on Sunday.

Defending champions Liverpool secured their first league win of 2026 with a 4-1 triumph over Newcastle at Anfield. Hugo Ekitike scored twice, Florian Wirtz added another, and Ibrahima Konate netted a late goal in his first game since his father’s death. Emotional scenes followed as Konate celebrated with teammates and fans, with the France defender saying, “It was important for me to come back and to help the team.” Newcastle had initially led through Anthony Gordon before Liverpool’s second-half fightback.

Chelsea staged a dramatic comeback from 0-2 down to beat West Ham 3-2 at Stamford Bridge. Substitutes Joao Pedro, Marc Cucurella, and Enzo Fernandez scored, with Fernandez netting the winner in the second minute of added time. The match ended with West Ham’s Jean-Clair Todibo sent off for violent conduct, leaving the Hammers five points from safety.

Everton also scored late to salvage a 1-1 draw at Brighton. Substitute Beto struck in the 97th minute after Pascal Gross had put Brighton ahead.

At the bottom, Wolverhampton slipped to a 2-0 home defeat against Bournemouth. Goals from Junior Kroupi and Alex Scott ensured Wolves suffered their 18th loss of the season, leaving them deep in relegation trouble.
