Sullia, Jan 20: A youth lost his life and his father sustained serious injuries after their motorcycle went out of control and plunged into a roadside culvert at a dangerous curve on the Bellare–Sullia main road at Kalloni on Tuesday, January 20 morning.

The deceased has been identified as Nishanth (24), son of Monappa, a resident of Kolya near Mardala in Kadaba taluk. Monappa, who was riding pillion, suffered critical injuries.

According to sources, the father and son were travelling towards Sullia to deliver Sabarimala prasada to relatives when the mishap occurred. It is suspected that the rider lost control at the sharp curve or met with the accident while attempting to avoid a collision with another vehicle.
