Beed, Jan 19: Beed district, which has remained in the spotlight over the past year for various reasons, is once again in the news following the suspicious death of a Goods and Services Tax (GST) officer. The body of State Tax Officer Sachin Jadhav was found inside his car in the Kapildharwadi area near Beed, triggering shock and concern.
After the body was discovered, Beed police conducted a panchnama at the spot with the help of a forensic team. While the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem report, the recovery of a suicide note from the vehicle has added a new dimension to the case. Preliminary information suggests that the officer may have taken the extreme step due to alleged harassment by his seniors.

Police have registered a case of accidental death for now, and further investigation is underway based on the suicide note and other available evidence. Beed Additional Superintendent of Police Sachin Pandkar said that appropriate action will be taken after a detailed inquiry.
Sachin Jadhav was a native of Chumb village in Solapur district and had been serving as a Sales Tax Officer at the Beed GST office for the past few years. He had left his residence on Friday but did not return home by Saturday, prompting his wife Mayuri Jadhav to file a missing complaint at Shivajinagar police station. Acting on mobile location tracking, police traced him to Kapildharwadi, where his body was found inside the car under suspicious circumstances.
Suspecting foul play initially, police intensified the investigation with forensic assistance. During the post-mortem process, the suicide note was found near the body, reportedly mentioning harassment by a senior officer. Based on this, police have detained one official for questioning and said further action will depend on the findings of the investigation.
Sachin Jadhav had topped the state in the 2012 MPSC examination and was known to be affable and well-regarded among colleagues. Preliminary observations indicate that charcoal and wood were burnt inside a closed container in the locked car, suggesting smoke inhalation. Family members have demanded a thorough and impartial probe into the incident.
While the suicide note points to a possible reason behind the death, several questions remain unanswered, including the extent of alleged harassment and the sequence of events leading to the officer’s death. Beed police have stated that all angles are being examined to uncover the truth.
