WPL 2026 kicks off on Jan 9 with RCB–MI opener in Navi Mumbai

Navi Mumbai, Jan 9: The much-anticipated fourth season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 will get underway today, with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) locking horns with defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) in the opening match at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy here. The match is scheduled to begin at 7.30 pm.

The T20 tournament will commence with a grand opening ceremony ahead of the match, featuring performances by several celebrities, including rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh, actor Jacqueline Fernandez and former Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu.

This season of the WPL will be hosted across two venues. The initial leg of the tournament will be played at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai, after which the action will move to the BCA Stadium in Vadodara. The Vadodara venue will host the remaining 11 matches of the league, including the playoffs.

With top international and domestic stars in action, the new season promises high-intensity cricket and entertainment for fans.
