Wellington, Jan 7: Pace bowler Jacob Duffy has been named in New Zealand’s 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup scheduled to begin next month, marking his first appearance at a World Cup. The selection follows a stellar 2025 season for Duffy, during which he picked up 81 international wickets, earning him a place in the marquee tournament.
Mitchell Santner will captain an experienced New Zealand side. Tim Robinson, Bevon Jacobs and Zakary Foulkes have missed out on selection, while tall pacer Kyle Jamieson has been named as the travelling reserve.

The Black Caps’ pace unit will feature Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry and Adam Milne alongside Duffy, with James Neesham providing an additional seam-bowling option. In the spin department, Santner will be supported by veteran leg-spinner Ish Sodhi, who last featured in the tournament a decade ago in India.
New Zealand’s batting line-up boasts firepower at the top, with Finn Allen set to open alongside wicketkeeper Tim Seifert. Devon Conway, Mark Chapman, Glenn Phillips and Rachin Ravindra add depth and versatility to the middle order, while Daryl Mitchell and Michael Bracewell strengthen the all-round options.
There is a strong possibility of Kyle Jamieson featuring during the tournament, as pacers Matt Henry and Lockie Ferguson are expected to take short-term paternity leave during the competition.
Speaking on the squad selection, head coach Rob Walter said World Cups hold a special place for players and fans alike, particularly when played in India. He expressed confidence in the balance, experience and adaptability of the squad, highlighting the team’s familiarity with sub-continent conditions.
New Zealand have been placed in Group D alongside Afghanistan, Canada, South Africa and UAE. They will open their campaign against Afghanistan in Chennai on February 8, followed by a match against UAE at the same venue. The high-profile clash against South Africa is scheduled for February 14 in Ahmedabad, before the Black Caps conclude their group stage against Canada in Chennai on February 17.
