Dhule, Jan 6: Tension prevailed near the Guru Nanak Sabha Gurudwara in Maharashtra’s Dhule district on Monday after two groups clashed over a dispute related to the chief’s position at the religious institution. Police said the situation was later brought under control.

Speaking to news agency ANI, Additional Superintendent of Police Ajay Deore said a scuffle broke out between the two groups following a disagreement over leadership at the Gurudwara. He added that several complainants have approached the police to record their statements and assured strict action against those found responsible for the violence.

“The situation is now fully under control. Statements are being recorded and action will be taken against those responsible,” Deore said. He also cautioned the public against circulating videos of the incident or spreading rumours, warning that legal action would be initiated against anyone found sharing false or inflammatory content.

Meanwhile, members of the Sikh community staged a sit-in protest outside the Dhule Police Station, alleging that the Gurudwara has remained closed for the past two days. The protesters demanded that it be reopened to allow celebrations marking the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh.

The demonstrators further alleged that their religious leader, Baba Dhiraj Singh Khalsa, was murdered inside the Gurudwara by Baba Ranveer Singh, who they claimed has since taken control of the premises. They urged the police to arrest him and take immediate action.

Police officials said all allegations are being examined and statements from the complainants are being recorded. Security has been tightened in the area to prevent any further escalation, and authorities have appealed to the public to maintain calm as the investigation continues.
