Udupi, Jan 1: A rare and innovative solo vocal-dance presentation titled “Purandara Gana Nartana”, based on the compositions of saint-poet Sri Purandara Dasa, will be presented by Vidushi Deeksha Ramakrishna, associate director of Hejje Gejje, Udupi–Manipal, on January 3, 2026, at the Nutana Ravindra Mantapa of MGM College, Udupi.
Vidushi Deeksha Ramakrishna is a noted Bharatanatyam artiste, finalist of Zee Kannada Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Season 13, two-time winner of ETV Ede Tumbi Haaduvenu, a film playback singer, AIR B-High Grade artiste, and a recipient of state and national scholarships. This unique solo endeavour is being attempted for recognition in the Golden Book of World Records.




The programme will be inaugurated at 8.30 am by Dr Manish Vishnoi, Asia head of the Golden Book of World Records, in the presence of Vidushi Yasha Ramakrishna, director of Hejje Gejje; Dr Sharanbasava, founder president of Sri Basava Trust, Ballari; and Sri Ramakrishna Hegde, secretary of Hejje Gejje.
The solo performance will commence at 9 am, accompanied by Vidwan Satish Bhat and Vidwan Shashikiran on harmonium, Vidwan Madhavacharya on tabla, with support from Vidushi Vijetha Hegde, Keremane.
The valedictory ceremony will be held at 5 pm the same day. Eminent dignitaries including Shibaroor Vedavyasa Tantri, Diwan of Sri Palimaru Math; Udupi MLA Yashpal P Suvarna; former MLA Raghupathi Bhat; Dr Manish Vishnoi; senior music guru Vidwan Madhura P Balasubramanyam; AIR artiste Vidwan Raghavendra Acharya; MGM College vice principal Dr M Vishwanath Pai; and Dr Sharanbasava will participate. Dance performances by Hejje Gejje students will follow.
The celebrations will conclude with “Dasapada Vaibhavam” on Sunday, January 4, 2026, from 4 pm at the same venue. The cultural programme will feature thematic and group dance performances by renowned artistes including Vidushi Gauri Sagar (Bengaluru), Vidwan Yogesh Kumar and Vidushi Sneha Narayan, Vidushi Prathima Sridhar and Vidwan Sridhar Holla, along with students from leading dance institutions of Udupi, Mangaluru, Bengaluru, and Kodavoor.
