Abu Dhabi launches advanced system to monitor indoor air quality

Dubai, Dec 28: Indoor air quality, though often overlooked, plays a crucial role in everyday health and wellbeing. Recognising this, Abu Dhabi has introduced a new initiative aimed at transforming how indoor air is monitored and managed across the emirate.

The Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC) has unveiled the Indoor Air Quality Observatory, known as HawAQM, a cutting-edge system designed to track indoor air pollutants and support public health protection. The platform provides continuous, real-time monitoring of air quality in diverse indoor settings, including schools, homes, offices and other enclosed facilities.

HawAQM operates through high-precision sensors installed at selected sites throughout the emirate. These sensors continuously measure key indoor air pollutants and transmit live data to a dedicated digital dashboard. This allows health experts and authorities to quickly evaluate air conditions and take prompt action to ensure safe and healthy indoor environments.

The observatory forms part of ADPHC’s wider public health strategy, highlighting a proactive approach to disease prevention and environmental health. By monitoring a broad range of public and private indoor spaces, the system enhances awareness of air quality while enabling rapid responses when unhealthy conditions are detected, helping to prevent potential health issues.

Through the integration of advanced sensor technology, real-time data analysis and comprehensive oversight, HawAQM significantly strengthens indoor air quality management across Abu Dhabi. The initiative reflects a strong commitment to protecting residents’ health and showcases how innovation can be used to improve everyday living conditions.
