Puttur: Man sentenced to three years’ jail, Rs 10,000 fine

Puttur, Dec 24: In a significant ruling, Shivaprasad (41), a resident of Ivernadu, Sullia, has been sentenced to three years’ simple imprisonment and fined Rs 10,000 in case No. 53/2025 under Section 306 BNS, registered at the Puttur Rural police station.

The presiding judge of the ASCJ & JMFC Court, Devaraj, ordered that in the event of non-payment of the fine, the accused will serve an additional six months in jail.

The investigation was carried out by Sushma Bhandary, deputy superintendent of police, Puttur Rural police station, who meticulously collected all necessary evidence and submitted the final report to the court without delay.

Representing the government, Chetana Devi presented the prosecution’s arguments effectively in court, ensuring a strong case against the accused.
