Dehradun, Dec 10: A political controversy has erupted in the Uttarakhand capital after digitally manipulated and offensive visuals of Prime Minister Narendra Modi went viral on social media, prompting swift action from the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM).
BJYM Mahanagar President Devendra Bisht lodged a formal complaint at the Vasant Vihar police station, accusing several social media users of deliberately circulating AI-generated photos and videos aimed at tarnishing the Prime Minister’s reputation. The complaint names 18 social media accounts allegedly involved in the spread of the fabricated content.

Bisht said the images portray the Prime Minister in degrading and absurd scenarios, including visuals of him selling tea, posing shirtless like a bodybuilder, and even appearing as a bodyguard behind Russian President Vladimir Putin. He stated that such posts are a deliberate attempt to provoke sentiment and disrupt public harmony.
Police confirmed the registration of a case and said the matter has been transferred to the Cyber Cell for a detailed probe. Station House Officer Ashok Rathore said efforts are underway to trace the source of the deepfake visuals and identify the first account responsible for posting them.
BJP workers expressed strong anger over the viral content and called for strict punishment against those behind the act. Bisht insisted that defamation and other serious charges should be invoked, warning that the spread of such content could trigger unrest.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to track down those responsible for creating and circulating the offensive material.
