Kutch, Dec 10: In a shocking and gruesome crime reported from Muru village in Nakhatrana, Kutch district, a youth allegedly murdered his 20-year-old friend, chopped his body into pieces, and disposed of the remains in three borewells and a cotton field, police said on Wednesday.
The accused, identified as Kishor Lakhamshi Maheshwari, along with a minor accomplice, has been arrested for the brutal killing of Ramesh Puja Maheshwari, following a dispute over a woman.

According to police, Kishor had sent a message to Ramesh’s girlfriend, which resulted in her blocking Ramesh on social media, triggering a heated argument between the two. Although the friends appeared to reconcile later, Kishor reportedly continued to harbour resentment.
On December 2, the accused invited Ramesh for dinner at his cotton field. On the way, they were joined by a minor friend. During the meal, the topic resurfaced, leading to another altercation. In a fit of rage, Kishor attacked Ramesh with a spade, killing him on the spot, officials stated.
Body Dismembered to Destroy Evidence
Kutch (West) SP Vikas Sunda explained that after the murder, Kishor dismembered the victim:
• Ramesh’s head was dumped in borewell-1 and covered with stones
• Both hands were thrown into borewell-2
• The pickaxe and dagger used in the crime were thrown into borewell-3
• The torso and lower body were buried in the cotton field
• Blood-soaked soil was collected in a sack and dumped in an unused well
A missing complaint was filed by Ramesh’s brother on December 3, after which police launched a massive search operation.
During questioning, Kishor was found in possession of the victim's mobile phone and kept changing his statements. Continuous interrogation by PI A.M. Makwana eventually led to his confession and recovery of all body parts, the SP informed.
Both the accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for murder and destruction of evidence, along with Section 135 of the GP Act. Further investigation is underway.
