Ajman: Community leaders come together to celebrate 28 years of Thumbay Group’s legacy in UAE

Sharjah, Dec 8: The Karnataka community in the UAE gathered on Saturday, December 6, at Thumbay Villa, Sharjah, for an evening that blended celebration, culture, and heartfelt recognition, as Thumbay Group marked 28 years of its remarkable journey in the UAE. The gathering spotlighted shared achievements and honoured two distinguished leaders whose service has shaped both business and community life in the region.

The programme began with a visual presentation tracing Thumbay Group’s growth under the leadership of Dr Thumbay Moideen. In his welcome address, he reflected on the Group’s evolution into a globally respected institution in education, healthcare, and research. He extended his gratitude to the UAE leadership and the Karnataka diaspora for their unwavering support throughout this journey.

The evening featured guest addresses from prominent dignitaries, including U T Khader, speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, who praised the entrepreneurial spirit of the Indian community in the Gulf; and Sathish Kumar Sivan, the consul general of India to the UAE, who acknowledged Thumbay Group’s role in strengthening bilateral ties and elevating India’s global presence through excellence in medical education and healthcare delivery.

Community leaders and well-known personalities, including Dr Kaup Muhammad, Praveen Shetty, Mohammad Ali Uchil, Shashidhar Nagarajappa, and Hidayath Addoor shared their reflections, each reaffirming the importance of unity and collective progress.

A key highlight of the celebration was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Awards, which recognized two respected figures:

• Mohammed Meeran, chairman of EMCO International and Electric Way, Dubai
• Dr B K. Yusuf, president, Bearys Cultural Forum

Both honourees were celebrated for their leadership, decades of service, and their role in uplifting communities across the UAE and beyond. The evening concluded with a vote of thanks, group photographs, and a networking dinner, allowing guests to reconnect and celebrate a shared sense of identity, accomplishment, and community pride.

The community get-together not only honoured Thumbay Group’s 28-year legacy, but also underscored the strength of the Karnataka diaspora and the leaders who continue to inspire through vision, service, and commitment.
