Nanded, Dec 8: Shiv Sena MLA Balaji Kalyankar of Nanded North on Sunday blamed BJP Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Chavan for the collapse of alliance talks in the recent Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat elections and warned that a similar situation could arise in the upcoming Nanded Municipal Corporation polls, prompting the party to gear up for an independent contest.
Kalyankar said Chavan's “lack of interest in Mahayuti” had forced the Sena to contest independently in earlier local elections. “During the Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats, district chiefs and MLAs met with BJP and Ashok Chavan Saheb. But they showed no interest in forming Mahayuti or contesting together. That is why we fought independently and strengthened all our candidates,” he said.

After a detailed organisational review in Nanded city under the Nanded North constituency, Kalyankar reiterated that the party is ready for a solo fight once again. “Whether an alliance happens or not, we will not remain silent. We are fully prepared ward-wise. Our saffron flag will fly over the Nanded Municipal Corporation,” he asserted.
The meeting saw participation from district chiefs Gangadhar Wadore, Umesh Munde, Mangesh Kadam and Aparna Neralkar, along with office bearers, former corporators, and Shiv Sainiks. The party reviewed aspirants, organisational readiness, past performance, and future agendas.
Kalyankar urged aspirants to intensify public outreach. “You must visit every household. The public supports only those who work for them,” he said, emphasising the need to prioritise basic amenities and people-centric programmes.
He added that the party's preparations were stronger than ever. “In every ward, four candidates are ready per seat as per reservation. In Nanded North alone, all 12 wards have prepared candidates. Our goal remains unchanged: 100% we will hoist the saffron flag over the Nanded Municipal Corporation,” he concluded.
