New Delhi, Dec 7: IndiGo has announced significant progress in restoring its flight operations, with over 1,650 services back in the air today, compared to 1,500 on the previous day. The airline reported that 137 out of its 138 destinations are operational and on-time performance has improved to 75%, a steep rise from just 30% yesterday.
IndiGo reiterated that passengers will receive a complete waiver on cancellations and rescheduling for bookings up to December 15. Refunds and baggage sorting are being expedited as the carrier continues “round-the-clock” efforts to resume full normalcy.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has implemented strict and swift measures to minimise inconvenience faced by travellers following the recent operational crisis.
To prevent unfair fare hikes due to sudden demand surges, the ministry has immediately capped ticket prices on affected routes. Authorities noted that airfares have now stabilised at reasonable levels, with all airlines instructed to adhere to the regulated pricing.
Ensuring financial security for passengers, the ministry directed IndiGo to complete all pending refunds for cancelled or severely delayed flights by 8 pm today. The airline has processed refunds amounting to ?610 crore so far. No extra charges will be allowed for rescheduling impacted flights.
On the baggage front, IndiGo has been ordered to trace and deliver all unaccompanied luggage within 48 hours. As of yesterday, 3,000 lost baggage items were delivered to owners across the country.
Airport directors in major hubs including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Goa confirmed smooth terminal operations with no crowding or delays in check-in, security, or boarding processes. Ground support has been reinforced with enhanced monitoring and timely deployment of assistance staff.
A 24×7 central control room continues to operate under MoCA, coordinating flight operations, airport conditions, and passenger support. Officials remain present on the ground to ensure compliance in crew deployment, planning and passenger handling.
Reassuring passengers, the ministry emphasised that safety, convenience and dignity of travellers remain the government’s top priority. Authorities assured continued vigilance until operations across the aviation sector are fully stabilised, with further updates to be issued when required.
