Mumbai, Dec 5: Bollywood’s timeless star Madhuri Dixit has shared a beautiful insight into her love story with husband Dr Shriram Nene, recalling how destiny brought them together at the right time. Speaking on Ranveer Allahabadia’s podcast, the actor revealed that though friends often tried to play matchmaker, she was completely invested in her career and afraid that choosing the wrong partner might jeopardize her happiness.

“My friends would always try to set me up, but I loved my career. I used to think if I find the wrong man, all the fun of my life would be gone. I never believed in the idea of a fairy tale,” she said.

Brushing off suggestions that she had cast a spell on her husband, Madhuri credited the strong bond they share to mutual respect and a true understanding of each other. “I am lucky I met such a romantic guy. Encouragement, respect, positivity—these things keep our relationship strong. It is a beautiful mix of art and science. We connect in our desire to bring good health and happiness to others,” she added.

During the COVID-19 lockdown, Dr Nene even took charge behind the camera for her music single Candle, learning video techniques himself to ensure the best results—an act that Madhuri cherishes deeply.

The couple tied the knot on October 17, 1999, and soon after shifted to the United States, where they enjoyed a peaceful family life away from the media glare. Their sons Arin (2003) and Ryan (2005) completed their family, and in 2011 the family returned to Mumbai, where Madhuri resumed her screen presence in films and television. Even today, the couple continues to balance professional commitments while staying closely bonded to family values.

On the professional front, Madhuri Dixit is all set to stun audiences in Mrs Deshpande, a psychological thriller directed by Nagesh Kukunoor. The veteran actor will be seen in a gripping new role as a convicted serial killer serving a 25-year term, who is summoned by the police to help track down a copycat murderer on the loose.

Adapted from the French thriller La Mante, the series promises a sharp mix of suspense, secrets, and psychological tension. Mrs Deshpande is slated to premiere on JioHotstar on December 19, 2025.
