New Delhi, Nov 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday (November 27, 2025) met the Indian Women’s Blind Cricket Team, who recently scripted history by clinching the inaugural Blind Women’s T20 World Cup, defeating Nepal by seven wickets in the final held in Colombo.
The memorable win comes close on the heels of India’s senior women’s team lifting their maiden ODI World Cup, making it a landmark month for women’s cricket in the country.
During the interaction, the players presented the Prime Minister with an autographed bat, while Mr. Modi signed a cricket ball for the team, marking a celebratory exchange between the champions and the nation’s leader.
Earlier, PM Modi had lauded the team on their unbeaten run and title victory.
“Congratulations to the Indian Blind Women’s Cricket Team for creating history by winning the inaugural Blind Women’s T20 World Cup! More commendable is the fact that they stayed unbeaten in the series,” he wrote on X.
Describing the achievement as a shining example of hard work, teamwork, and determination, he added that every player in the squad is a champion in her own right.
“This remarkable feat will inspire generations to come,” the Prime Minister said, extending his best wishes for their future endeavours.
