RPF Bhatkal, returns valuables worth Rs 8 lac to passenger under ‘Operation Amanat’

Uttara Kannada, Nov 25: In a commendable act of honesty and prompt response under Operation Amanat, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) staff of the Bhatkal out-post successfully traced and returned valuables worth nearly Rs 8 lac to a passenger who had forgotten his bag while travelling.

On November 25, the RPF received a message from ZSCR/KRCL regarding a black handbag left behind in Train No 12619, coach B1, berth numbers 5 and 6. Upon the train’s arrival at Bhatkal (BTJL), HC/RPF Ravidas Gungi attended the coach and, with the help of the TTE, secured the abandoned bag.

In the presence of the on-duty Station Master, an inventory was prepared. The bag was found to containing, one gold mangalsutra, four gold bangles, one pair of gold earrings, a Samsung mobile phone with charger and other personal items.

The claimant, Raghuveer Deshbhandari, a resident of Maharashtra, was traced and informed. He stated that he had been travelling from Panvel to Honnavar and had forgotten the bag while deboarding the train.

After proper verification, the RPF handed over the recovered bag and all valuables to the rightful owner.

The passenger expressed heartfelt gratitude to the RPF personnel for their timely assistance and professionalism.
