Madrid, Nov 24: Real Madrid’s lead atop La Liga was trimmed to just one point after a 2-2 draw in a dramatic away clash with Elche on Sunday.
All four goals came in the second half. Aleix Febas gave Elche the lead eight minutes after the break, beating Trent Alexander-Arnold to the ball. Real Madrid equalized in the 78th minute through a Dean Huijsen header, but Elche regained the advantage six minutes later when Alvaro Rodriguez scored with a low shot past Thibaut Courtois. Jude Bellingham salvaged a point for Madrid in the 87th minute, tapping in after a setup from Kylian Mbappe and Huijsen. VAR denied an Elche appeal for a foul on goalkeeper Inaki Pena by Vinicius Jr. Elche finished with 10 men after Victor Chust was sent off in the 96th minute.

Atletico Madrid secured a 1-0 away win over Getafe, with Giacomo Raspadori’s cross deflected into his own net by defender Domingos Duarte. Getafe came close in injury time when Mauro Arambarri hit the bar, as Atletico claimed its fifth consecutive league victory.
Real Betis played to a 1-1 draw at home against Girona, despite unveiling a massive tifo celebrating Isco’s contract extension. Girona took the lead in the 20th minute through Vladislav Vanat, but Valentin Gomez equalized for Betis. The match ended on a sour note for Betis as Antony received a straight red card for an overhead kick that struck Girona defender Joel Roca, ruling him out of next weekend’s derby against Sevilla.
At the bottom of the table, Oviedo drew 0-0 with Rayo Vallecano. Both teams finished with 10 men after Ilyas Chaira and Pathe Ciss were sent off in the second half.
The weekend’s results kept the title race tight while providing fresh drama in both the top and bottom of the La Liga table.
