Mumbai: Divya Khosla Kumar releases phone audio with Mukesh Bhatt, rekindles ‘Jigra–Savi’ row

Mumbai, Nov 21: A fresh storm has erupted in Bollywood after actor-filmmaker Divya Khosla Kumar released an audio recording of her phone conversation with veteran producer Mukesh Bhatt, reigniting the year-old controversy involving Alia Bhatt’s Jigra and Divya’s film Savi.

The audio clip, shared by Divya on her social media page, captures an emotional exchange in which she confronts Mukesh Bhatt over media reports alleging that she fuelled controversy around Jigra merely to stay in the limelight. These reports, which resurfaced across major platforms, had claimed that she attempted to cash in on the film’s publicity wave.

In the recording, Divya can be heard questioning Mukesh Bhatt about whether he had spoken negatively about her to the media—an allegation he firmly denies. She also highlights several articles accusing her of deliberately creating noise during Jigra’s 2024 release, despite the clash deeply upsetting her, especially since the reports emerged on her birthday.

Mukesh Bhatt is heard reassuring Divya that he made no such remarks, further hinting that the negative stories were planted by “the other camp” with the intention of disturbing her. He advises her to remain unaffected and to “rise above” the situation.

Divya, meanwhile, is heard expressing how much she respects the senior filmmaker and how hurt she felt by the accusations circling her name. The release of this audio comes shortly after Mukesh Bhatt had dismissed her earlier claims as mere attempts at seeking publicity.

For the uninitiated, Divya had accused the team behind Jigra, starring Alia Bhatt, of mirroring the storyline of her project Savi, in which she starred alongside Harshvardhan Rane. While Jigra released with high expectations, the film struggled to leave a mark at the box office.

By making their private conversation public, Divya has now added a fresh twist to an already contentious chapter—one that Bollywood circles say is far from over.
