Mangaluru, Nov 16: St Aloysius Gonzaga School celebrated Children’s Day with great splendour under the title ‘Viva Gonzaga’ on November 15. The event was organised in collaboration with the school management and the executive committee of the Parent-Teacher Association, at St Aloysius PU College ground.
Remona Evette Pereira, a recipient of the Golden Book of World Records, graced the occasion as the chief guest. She inaugurated the programme and, in her address, urged parents to recognise their children’s interests and talents and to motivate them consistently. She also expressed her gratitude to the Aloysius Institutions for the support they had extended in her journey of achievement.

Fr Rohan D Almeida SJ, principal of the institution, addressed the gathering and informed them that the funds raised through the fancy Fete, a special feature of the Children’s Day celebration, would be dedicated to a social cause. He announced that this contribution would support the development of essential facilities at Loyola Kendriya Vidyalaya, Mundagod, a sister concern of St Aloysius Institutions.
In his presidential address, Fr Melwin Joseph Pinto SJ, president of the Aloysius institutions, stated that one must learn to build bridges, not walls. He wished that such events, which unite communities and strengthen human relationships, continue to take place frequently.
With over 60 stalls offering food products, games, and retail items, the event took on the flavour of a grand festival. Students and the parents participated with enthusiasm and benefitted immensely.
The cultural performances captivated everyone, especially the vibrant dance presentations by the Lambani and Siddi communities of Mundagod, which were a visual treat. Students, teachers, and parents too presented various entertaining performances.
The event was graced by the presence of vice-principals, Laurel D’Souza and Aparna Suresh. Teacher Carol Tina welcomed the gathering. PTA vice president Reena Noronha proposed the vote of thanks. Committee member Ashel Rodrigues compered the programme.
