Mumbai, Nov 13: In a strategic move ahead of the much-awaited Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday appointed four new general secretaries to its Mumbai unit, signaling a focused effort to strengthen its organizational base across communities in the city.
According to an official statement by Mumbai BJP President Ameet Satam, Rajesh Shirwadkar, Ganesh Khaparkar, Acharya Pawan Tripathi, and Shweta Parulekar have been appointed as the new general secretaries of the Mumbai BJP.

The appointments are being viewed as part of the party’s inclusive representation strategy — Shirwadkar and Khaparkar represent the Marathi community, Parulekar’s inclusion highlights women’s leadership, while Acharya Tripathi, who also serves as the treasurer of the Shri Siddhivinayak Temple Trust, represents the North Indian community.
Party insiders said the reshuffle aims to broaden BJP’s appeal among diverse groups in Mumbai, a crucial step as the city prepares for one of its most significant civic elections.
Meanwhile, the State Election Commission (SEC) is yet to announce the official dates for the BMC elections, even as polls for Nagar Panchayat and Nagar Parishads are scheduled for December 2, with nominations having begun on November 10.
