Doha, Nov 7: Qatar’s local agricultural markets are set to reopen on Thursday, November 6, 2025, marking the start of the 2025–2026 season and reaffirming the nation’s push toward sustainability and food security. Over 100 Qatari farms will participate, offering fresh vegetables, honey, dates, and seasonal produce directly to consumers.
The Ministry of Municipality’s Agricultural Affairs Department announced that the markets will operate every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Locations include Al Khor, Al Thakhira, Al Wakrah, Al Shamal, and Al Shahaniya, with Al Mazrouah market continuing its year-round operations.
Officials said the initiative aims to support local farmers by eliminating intermediaries, ensuring fair pricing, and encouraging modern, eco-friendly farming practices. It also aligns with the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the National Food Security Strategy, promoting self-sufficiency and sustainable development.
Visitors can expect a wide selection of locally grown products and enjoy improved facilities, including shaded areas, organised parking, and public amenities. Inspection teams will monitor quality to ensure all products meet approved standards.
Since the launch of the first market in 2012–2013, Qatar’s local produce markets have grown significantly—from 24 farms selling 884 tons of products to over 160 farms marketing more than 10,000 tons within two years.
The Ministry has invited citizens and residents to visit the markets, experience fresh national produce, and contribute to the country’s goal of achieving agricultural self-reliance.
