Kuwait launches digital service for certified passport copies of children

Kuwait, Oct 28: Parents in Kuwait can now access certified digital copies of their children’s passports online, as the Ministry of Interior introduces a new e-service aimed at simplifying official procedures for families. The facility, available for minors under 16, marks a major step in the country’s ongoing digital transformation drive.

The new feature allows parents to obtain verified, government-approved passport copies directly through the Ministry’s online portal, eliminating the need for in-person visits or submission of original documents. These certified copies are officially recognized by schools, government departments, and other institutions for verification purposes.

According to the Ministry, parents or legal guardians can log into the online portal using their Civil ID credentials, choose the “Certified Passport Copy” option, and enter their child’s details. Once approved, the copy can be instantly downloaded or printed for use.
The service is also available through the Sahel (???) app — Kuwait’s integrated platform for government e-services — enabling users to manage multiple official tasks from their mobile devices.

Officials said the initiative reduces paperwork, saves time, and minimizes the risk of losing important documents. It will be particularly useful for school admissions, visa applications, and other identity-related processes.

Developed in coordination with the General Directorate of Nationality and Passports, the system reflects Kuwait’s broader vision of a paperless, efficient, and citizen-friendly government. It underscores the country’s growing commitment to digital innovation and improved public service delivery.
