Daijiworld Media Network - Panaji

Panaji, Oct 26: Over the past five years, a total of 259 foreign nationals from 35 countries have been deported from Goa, according to official sources. These deportations were carried out through the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), Goa, between 2019 and October 10, 2025.

The largest number of deportees were Ugandan citizens (89), followed by Bangladesh (36), Russia (31), Nigeria (27), Tanzania (24), and Kenya (10). Smaller numbers included individuals from Ivory Coast (4), Kyrgyzstan (4), UK (3), Ukraine (3), Afghanistan (2), Pakistan (2), and Yemen (2).

Officials noted that, while most foreign visitors come to India for tourism or business, some were found violating laws or involved in illegal activities, leading to deportation.

At the national level, the Government of India has decided to deport over 17,000 foreign nationals across the country who were found linked to criminal offences. The Centre has also requested detailed reports from all states on such cases.

In Goa, strict monitoring by immigration authorities continues to ensure that foreign visitors comply with local laws and regulations.
