Pune, Oct 14: Infamous gangster Nilesh Bansilal Ghaywal is facing yet another criminal case, this time for allegedly misusing an Aadhaar card to fraudulently obtain a Jio SIM card and conduct extensive financial transactions across multiple banks. The case has been registered at Kothrud police station.

According to the complaint, Ghaywal allegedly forced a person to obtain a Jio SIM card in their name on 13 January 2020 around 8 PM, threatening the individual with serious harm. Using the victim’s Aadhaar details, he registered the SIM card in the victim’s name and misrepresented it as his own to open bank accounts and carry out financial transactions, defrauding both the victim and the banks. Police investigations revealed that Ghaywal has retained possession of the SIM card since 2020 and continued its unlawful use.

The FIR cites charges under IPC sections 420 (cheating), 506 (criminal intimidation), 504 (intentional insult), along with IT Act Section 66(C) and Indian Telecom Act 2023 Section 42. The case is currently under investigation at Kothrud police station.

Ghaywal, a key member of the notorious Ghaywal gang, has previously been implicated in violent crimes in Pune, including armed assault and shooting incidents. He is currently believed to be absconding in London, with Pune police actively working to bring him back.
