Miami, Oct 12: Lionel Messi once again proved why he’s the heart of Inter Miami CF, leading his team to a commanding 4-0 win over Atlanta United FC in their final 2025 regular season home fixture at Chase Stadium.

Messi scored twice — taking his season tally to 26 goals — while Jordi Alba and Luis Suarez added one each in a dazzling display of teamwork and flair. Goalkeeper Rocco Ríos Novo ensured a clean sheet with three crucial saves.

The Argentine icon also made MLS history by becoming the first player ever to register nine multi-goal games in a single regular season.

Messi opened the scoring in the 39th minute with a stunning curler, followed by Alba’s classy chip in the 52nd minute from a brilliant Messi assist. Suarez added the third in the 61st, before Messi sealed the night with another strike in the 87th minute.

The emphatic victory not only delighted home fans but also secured Inter Miami home-field advantage for Round One of the 2025 MLS Cup Playoffs.

The team now heads to face Nashville SC in their final regular-season match next Saturday.
