California, Oct 12: Google is reportedly updating its “Work from Anywhere” (WFA) policy, adding stricter rules for remote employees. The tech giant’s new guidelines state that even a single day worked remotely outside the main office will count as a full WFA week.
The policy, originally introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic, allowed employees to work from any location for up to four weeks per year. While the hybrid schedule—working from home two days a week—remains unchanged, WFA days cannot be used to work from home or nearby offices.

Employees working from different locations may also need to follow local business hours, and violations could lead to disciplinary action or termination.
Internal discussions revealed some employees found the new rules “confusing,” questioning why one remote day counts as a full week and seeking clarification on restrictions for working from home.
