Powai Police hunt three men over Rs 41 lac gold scam

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai

Mumbai, Sep 21: Powai police have launched a manhunt for three accused—Amit Jain, Rajesh Jain, and Shubhash—who allegedly duped an Indore-based businessman, Piyush Gupta, of Rs 41 lac in a fake gold deal.

Gupta, who runs an import-export garment business in Indore, was lured to Mumbai by friends who promised gold biscuits at below-market prices. After several postponed meetings due to local events and police surveillance, Gupta traveled to Mumbai again on September 10.

On September 12, near Santosh Bar on Saki Vihar Road, Powai, Gupta and his two friends met the accused and handed over Rs 41 lac in cash. A young man showed Gupta a gold biscuit, took the cash, and asked Gupta to follow him. Suddenly, two men in an unregistered Innova car arrived, assaulted Gupta’s friends and the young man, forced the young man into the car with the cash bag, and fled.

Gupta later found the accused unreachable and reported the incident to Powai police, who have registered an FIR under Sections 318(4) and 3(5) of the BNS and are actively searching for the suspects.
