Mangaluru, Sep 19: St Agnes CBSE School, came alive with colours, laughter, and gratitude on September 16, as the PTA members hosted a grand Teachers’ Day Celebration in honour of the teaching fraternity. This year’s theme, ‘Traditions of India,’ wove together the beauty of culture with the warmth of appreciation, making the day a truly memorable one.

The programme commenced with a prayer service, invoking blessings upon the teachers, and was followed by a warm and gracious welcome address delivered by Pradeep Misquith, vice president of the Parent Teacher Association. In his address, he extended greetings on behalf of the entire body, marking the occasion as a celebration of teachers, the true superheroes of education. He emphasized that teaching is not merely a profession but a noble calling, and acknowledged the selfless service of teachers in nurturing young minds.

A key part of the address was the introduction of the chief guest, VJ Dixon, a professional master of ceremony, model, photographer, and television host. He has earned recognition as Mr India runner-up and Mr Talented, and is also a popular face of Heaven Rose. As a gesture of respect, he was presented with a potted blossom.

Soon, the atmosphere was filled with excitement as the first event, the Ramp Walk – Walk of Traditions, unfolded. Teachers draped in vibrant ethnic attire not only displayed the elegance of Indian culture but also shared delightful anecdotes and stories connected to their chosen traditions. Thunderous applause and joyous laughter accompanied every participant, with special prizes awarded for Best Dressed and Best Storyteller.

The spirit of festivity deepened with a parents’ skit, which brought humour and creativity to the stage, reminding everyone of the lighter joys of life. A lively quiz titled “Incredible India” followed, testing cultural and traditional knowledge in a fun, competitive manner. Teams enthusiastically battled it out, with cheers erupting as the winners were crowned.

One of the highlights of the celebration was the Group Challenge “Tradition in Action.” Teachers were divided into nine groups, each entrusted with props such as dupattas, diyas, turbans, clay pots, and flowers. With remarkable creativity, the groups presented short skits, dances, and songs that celebrated India’s cultural heritage. The stage turned into a kaleidoscope of traditions from graceful movements and soulful melodies to witty acts that drew smiles and admiration. The event not only showcased talent but also strengthened bonds of teamwork among teachers.

Following the performances, chief guest VJ Dixon addressed the gathering, expressing his gratitude to the teachers and commending their ability to organize the programme within a short span of time. He remarked that the events were both delightful and commendable, and considered it a privilege to adjudicate the teachers’ performances. Reflecting on his own experience, he noted that working under the guidance of principal Sr Sarika had instilled in him the pursuit of uniqueness, creativity, and innovation. He concluded by extending appreciation to the PTA members for orchestrating such a graceful celebration.

Reena, the associate secretary of the Parent Teacher Association, thanked the principal, teachers, and chief guest for their dedication and valuable contributions. The chief guest was presented with a memento by the vice president, Pradeep Misquith, as a token of gratitude. On behalf of the teachers, coordinator Tr Neesha conveyed heartfelt gratitude to the PTEC members. She described the occasion as a thoughtful initiative that epitomized love and respect, which she regarded as the greatest gift a teacher could receive, and lauded the association for making the fraternity feel truly valued.

The celebration reached its crescendo with an open stage performance, where teachers, parents, and staff came together in spirited singing, dancing, and the lively beats of Baila. Following this vibrant showcase, principal Sr Maria Sarika, on behalf of the management, expressed her gratitude to the PTEC members and ex-officio members, where she acknowledged their time, energy, and dedication in making the day truly memorable. Known for her eye for perfection, she lauded the programme as flawless in planning and execution, and affirmed that it reflected the remarkable team spirit of the PTA.

The day concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where winners were awarded and all teachers were honoured with mementoes by the Parent Teacher Association in recognition of their dedicated service.
