Mangaluru: 25-year-old auditor dies suddenly during trek at Konaje Kallu

Mangaluru, Sept 17: A trekking expedition ended in tragedy on Tuesday morning after Manoj N (25), a chartered accountant from Irde village in Puttur taluk, collapsed and died while trekking near Konaje Kallu in Moodbidri.

Manoj, who was working at Rao & Rao Chartered Accountants in Mangaluru, had set out early in the morning with his friend Karthik. The duo reached Konaje Kallu in Padukonaje village, Moodbidri taluk, around 6:20 am for a morning trek.

According to initial reports, the two had reached the peak by about 8:30 am, when Manoj suddenly vomited and collapsed, becoming unresponsive. Alarmed, Karthik immediately contacted the 108 ambulance service.

Locals who were nearby assisted in bringing Manoj down the hill. He was rushed to the Moodbidri Community Health Centre, but doctors there declared him brought dead.

While the exact cause of death is yet to be confirmed, Manoj’s father informed police that his son may have suffered a heart attack. Based on the complaint, the Moodbidri police have registered a case under U D No. 44/2025, in accordance with Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police sources confirmed that investigations are ongoing to ascertain the cause of death. Post-mortem results are awaited.
