Colombo, Sep 15: India captain Suryakumar Yadav dedicated the team’s emphatic seven-wicket victory over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 to the Indian armed forces and the families of victims of the Pahalgam terror attack.
“Perfect occasion, taking the time out – we stand by the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. We express our solidarity. Want to dedicate the win to all our armed forces who showed a lot of bravery. Hope they continue to inspire us all, and we give them more reasons on the ground whenever we get an opportunity to make them smile,” Yadav said at the post-match presentation.

The high-voltage clash came amid heightened political tension between the two nations following the April attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 tourists. India later launched Operation Sindoor in May, striking terror infrastructure in Pakistan before a ceasefire eased the standoff.
Calling the match “just another game,” Yadav said, “Great feeling and a perfect return gift to India. One box I always wanted to tick – stay there and bat till the end. We prepare the same for all oppositions. I’m always a fan of spinners because they control the game in the middle.”
